How does adding links to your site improve it google rating?
Q. I have been looking at how to improve my google search rating, many sites say adding links help. I was just wondering why adding links help?
Asked by Grant - Wed Mar 10 06:47:51 2010 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Mainly in two ways, a link helps search engines find your site more easily and also counts as a "vote" for your site. So the sites with the most good quality "votes" are considered more important and bubble up through the ranks.

What can i add to water to make it change colour when adding salt?
Q. Hi, I have a 4yr old that i am trying to toilet train still. I have come up with an idea of adding something to the water in the toilet so that when he does go it changes colour. (This might help to keep it more interesting and my increase the desire to go). Anyone have help with this i would appreciate it.

A. You don't want to add any more chemicals to the waste stream than necessary. You could try an acid/base indicator, except that urine is only slightly acidic, and I have no idea about the pH of your water to start with. What about adding some blue (actually cyan) food coloring. When the yellow urine mixes with it it will change to green.

Why is it important to simplify radical expressions before adding or subtracting? How is adding radical expres?
Q. Why is it important to simplify radical expressions before adding or subtracting? How is adding radical expressions similar to adding polynomial expressions? How is it different?
Asked by Heather E - Tue Mar 17 18:26:36 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. It's important to simplify to see if two involve the same radical and can thus be combined. Adding radicals is like adding polynomials. In adding polynomials, you add like terms. Similarly in adding radicals, you add like radicals. sqrt(2) + sqrt(8) can't really be added. But if you simplify to sqrt(2) + 2 sqrt(2), this you can add to be 3 sqrt(2) So you can add "like terms". It's different from adding polynomials because you can force radicals to be "like terms" by converting them (approximately) to decimals. sqrt(2) + sqrt(3) + 1.41 + 1.72 = 3.13 approx.

How much more horsepower will adding a cold air intake system to my car give me?
Q. I am adding a Cold Air Intake system added to my car. It is an AEM Cold Air Intake. How much more horsepower will it give me. Will I see a big difference in acceleration and speed?
Asked by God'sStrength - Sun May 25 16:44:28 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. You could see anywhere from a 4-15ish horse power increase. As for acceleration and speed differences they will most likely be pretty small and unnoticeable. For real power go to forced induction (turbo/supercharger).

What information does adding raw scores for different tests give you?
Q. For a tests and measurements class. We did long jumps and shuttle runs, but I ma not sure what the raw score is supposed to give you by adding them up.
Asked by Danielle - Mon Sep 24 12:51:22 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Nothing. Raw scores on different tests are meaningless when merged. There are different scales, and the raw scores usually measure different things. For example, adding your time for a 100 yard run and a 1000 meter run would be meaningless for many reasons, among them the time of the 100 yards would get 'lost' in the large time for the 1000 meter run. You can combine scores from different tests, like rank in performance as they do in the pentathlon or decathlon, but raw scores - no. So, lets add algebra final exam score, plus IQ, plus shoe size.

How long should I wait before adding more fish to my saltwater aquarium?
Q. I just set up my 72 gallon saltwater aquarium. Once I got the water ready and the filter hooked up and everything I added a few starter damsel fish. 3 to be exact. Im doing this to get the biological filteration going in the tank and to get all the good bacteria acclimated to everything. How long should I wait before adding more expensive fish? When will the biological filtration get adjusted to the point where it can handle all kinds of fish?

How long do you leave a tropical tank before adding the fish?
Q. I set everything up yesterday with plants, stones, heater and filter, i also added aquasafe to the water to neutralise the chlorine etc. How long should i leave the tank before adding the first fish? Will the aquasafe make it ok to add fish now or are there other reasons to wait, i would appreciate any advice, thanks.

A. As mentioned, you need to cycle the tank. Bio Spira will not prevent you from having to cycle - though it may help the process along. Cycling can be done one of two ways - fishless (as a previous poster mentioned) or with hardy fish (such as danios). Basically the nitrogen cycle starts with ammonia, which in a fishless cycle can be introduced either as pure ammonia that you purchase at the store, or in the form of fish food, which will break down into ammonia as it decomposes. In a cycle involving fish, their waste (feces, and uneaten food) will break down into ammonia. Either method starts the process. Once the ammonia is introduced the bacteria that turns ammonia into nitrite will begin to grow. Once this is established, you will see a… [cont.]

What is the purpose of adding expansion cards to the motherboard?
Q. What is the purpose of adding expansion cards to the motherboard? Why aren't expansion cards simply built-in to the computer at the time of manufacture?
Asked by Krawla - Sat Apr 25 15:47:38 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. So you can upgrade when better hardware is available. You might not have the money to spend on a top of the line machine. So it's nice to have the expansion available if you want to add a better video, ethernet, or sound card. Or, you may buy the best top of the line model. If you have no room to make it better in the future, your machine will be out dated much sooner.

Does adding cream in coffee kill the antioxidants?
Q. I read coffee can have positive health affects on people who drink it. But I came across an article below that says adding milk to your coffee kills the antioxidants (which have the health benefits). Now does anyone know if adding non-dairy creamer would have the same affect on the antioxidants?
Asked by agua4211 - Sun Dec 3 13:46:16 2006 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. That is a new one on me. I would love to see the research on it. However, milk or cream does really change the flavor of coffee. I maintain that good coffee (high quality beans, fresh roasted, properly brewed) doesn't need milk or sugar. Additives mask both the tastes that are unique to varietal beans, origins, and the roasting method. So, be safe and skip the milk! Better flavor and maybe better health! enjoy!

Will adding a conservatory to my house add value to the property?
Q. The house is a beautiful Georgian terraced ground floor flat (actually a maisonette - bought for 250K last year). We have a fair-sized garden (about 42sq.m.), but only half of it gets the sun. The part of the garden next to the house is not dark, but does not get direct sunlight until the evening. Essentially, we do not use that bit of garden for anything. We have thought of adding a conservatory, which will measure about 7m x 2.5m. We appreciate the need to get it done properly, and expect to spend around 15K to 20K. Is it worth it? We don't think we'll be there for very long. It is more of an investment property than anything else. Any advice?

A. I doubt it will increase the value of your property by 15 to 25 grand. It all depends how long you plan to stay there - you would certainly enjoy it if you were going to be there a few years but I wouldnt do it to increase the property value.

What is the purpose of adding a dielectric to a capacitor?
Q. I don't understand what dielectric material does to a capacitor. What is the purpose for adding them? If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.
Asked by ecogrl23 - Wed May 16 23:56:54 2007 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments
A. When an insulating material is placed between the plates of a charged-up capacitor, the voltage across the capacitor decreases Such insulating materials are called dielectrics. By lowering the voltage across the charged-up capacitor, the dielectric has "made room for" even more charge, hence, the capacitance of the capacitor is increased. Dielectric materials are characterized by a dimensionless number called the dielectric constant, K, which tells by what factro the capacitance of a capacitor is increased: C' = KC where C' is the new capacitance with the dielectric, and C is the original capacitance.

About a tbsp worth in the entire batch. I'd also put in about a tbsp of finely chopped onion that you saute first in cooking spray until cooked. or, just use dry minced onions. Saute up a 1/8th tsp of minced garlic, or a few shakes of garlic powder. Of course having some fresh broccoli would be delicious as well. Just steam up some. Or some frozen that's been steamed up. Asked by William D - Wed Jun 6 20:01:04 2007 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Two screens at once gives you a lot more video space to work with. You can open one application in one screen (say a spreadsheet) and a word document in the other so you can read two full-screen programs at once. If you have large spreadsheets, you can stretch it to fill both monitors at the same time... give you a lot more to see. Plus, there are some games that work with both monitors at the same time.

However, the amount that is put into these products (unless it's coffee or chocolate which both contain natural caffeine) for "flavor" is debatable. Caffeine is second only to nicotine when it comes to addiction(I'm not talking hard core drugs here) and is typically added in higher amounts to keep you stimulated and addicted and also buying more product. Think about nicotine. If cigarettes did not contain nicotine, then they would not be addictive. Same thing with caffeine. If it were not addictive, you would not want to purchase more and more product witih it in it. However, companies do not want you to think they are… [cont.]

Q. I have been having trouble sleeping, so I have been looking more at the products that I consume for caffeine. What is the purpose in adding it to any food product? I know it is a stimulant and will keep you awake (and this is why people will consume it so readily), but does it really serve any other purpose?

How can you prevent someone from adding you onto their credit card as an authorized user?
Q. How can you prevent someone from adding you onto their credit card as an authorized user? I've read a lot about how you can be taken off, how it affects your credit score, etc., but how can you keep from having it happen again? Thanks a lot.

If that is the case, and you can prove it - contact an attorney. Also try contacting the card holder/bank and request being removed from the account. If your income or credit score was used for approval this may… [cont.]
