FPS with Normandy "d-day" landing Other Gaming Discussions.

How would I enter into game development?
Q. I would like to be a 3D animation/modeling Artist, and have been looking at different collages (Art Institute looks promising) for the past few days. I have also looked into different positions at companies such as Valve, Blizzard, Lucas Arts, EA and CCP. Well it looks like it's really hard to break into the career because it appears that basically all companies want 2+ years of experience... So that explained, I guess my question is, what is a good entry level position in the 3D artist Realm of Game Design?

A. The main pipeline for non-game developers at the moment seems to be getting a good collage degree and interning for free. Once you'vee interned once or twice you should have the experience to get in. Another option is go to a sister company. Like a company that does art for moves or games but not games itself. Then make the switch a couple of years later. The third option is to get into modding and develop a huge undeniably good portfolio on the web with your art and your resume. Each time your art improves don't be afraid to throw away old stuff. One bad piece of art can turn people away.
