This programming language is easy to learn and is a good start into the innards of the computer. He'll probably develop some acquaintances through his activity with the language and they may give him some further clues. Make sure he takes algebra in high school to get a solid concept of writing formulaic statements. Encourage him to have fun with the tools available on his computer. I remember my first game. Both schools cost about the same thing, I think the Academy is a little bit cheaper. If I were you, I'd go with the school that could help me be what I wanted when I graduated. The Academy doesn't have a game design degree, but you can major in animation & visual effects or illustration and work as a character developer, production artist, 3D artist, rigger or other art centered jobs on games. If you're interested in the artistic side of game development, I don't think you could go to a better school that the Academy. If you're looking for programming, you might want to look into another school.
